Baby Scrapbook

I just have to say that this is one of my favorite scrapbooks that I have ever made! It is the first "clear" album that I have put together. I started out by sketching the whole thing out in pencil on paper. Just a VERY ROUGH idea of what I wanted each page to look like. Let me start by telling you who "Jayden" is :) One of my best friends from elementary school just got married (I was the matron of honor!!), and they are expecting their first baby in Oct. a baby boy that they are naming Jayden :) For her baby shower I thought about making her a "baby's first Christmas" scrapbook since Christmas is so soon after he will be born, and I know she will feel so swamped with her new little bundle of cuteness. But I then realized that I didn't have ANY Christmas paper at all! So I finally decided to do a "A Year Of Jayden" scrapbook! Most people veer to pastels for babies and baby type things... can I just say, please don't. I don't like pastels for babies for some reason. I have ALWAYS loved bright and bold colors, never one for muted tones. So of course I wanted to make a very bright and fun baby book for Bethanne and Justin's baby Jayden. This is the final product... I am sure I will be making more of these in the future, I just love how it turned out. Ok Ok Ok, and get this, one of the best things, 1. I didn't buy ANYTHING for it, I just used products that I already had, and 2. It only took me ONE DAY to make it after I had the sketches done (I made the sketches while watching t.v. the night before) and when I say ONE DAY I really mean about 6-7 hours!!! Love it.... well enjoy!

tomorrow! Anyways, I loved it so much that when I got back home (she
lives in a different city then I do) I couldn't resist making her

I cannot believe I have not posted in so long! I have been busy busy busy. Lately I have been working on some graduation announcements for my cousin. And I have had Jake's sisters over for some scrapbooking as well. And I have FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY started scrapbooking my wedding photos!!!!!!! I am so happy and excited about that :) My wedding colors are green and red, so sometimes I am reminded of Christmas when I am looking at the colors. But hopefully my scrapbook doesn't remind people of Christmas :) I have only just started it so there are about 6 pages done so far. I have been interrupted by the reminder that I need to finish those Graduation announcements this week :( Oh, and it is the first 12x12 scrapbook that I have ever made! There are times that I love that the pages are that big, and there are times that I hate that the pages are that big :) But overall I am just so excited that I am working on my wedding photos finally! Anyways, I haven't been taking photos of my creations lately :( I have made a lot of cards, but just made them, wrote in them, and mailed them out. Not too many photos. I will try and do a better job! I do have some photos of some scrapbook pages in my 8x8 "At 22" journal scrapbook and some cards though! Here they are

Here is my submission for the Color Challenge over at Kristina Werner's blog. The colors this week reminded me of a sunflower :) I wasn't in the mood to make a card at the time so I went through my photos to make a scrapbook page. Here is what I came up with

New Years Eve Party Scrapbook!

So this year for New Years Eve my husband and I threw our first party! I wanted to make sure that I took some photos and scrapbooked them because I was so excited about all of it! So here is the final product. Oh, and the other thing for this scrapbook was that I challenged myself to make every page on white paper and to mix patterned papers! I think that I did a good job with it and that it doesn't look weird or anything like that :)

Ok so I haven't been keeping this blog up to date because most of the time I am just adding my photos onto my FaceBook account. So here are some photos of the recent scrapbook pages that I have made

This layout's main thing is the "apple" frame around my head. That was the only thing that I knew for sure that I wanted to do. It took me a really long time, so after that I didn't want to add too many more embellishments! Its a tradition in my family to go to Apple Hill every year the weekend after Thanksgiving, and I love going there! So this is a photo of me all dressed and ready to go to Apple Hill

This is a photo of what my arms looked like half way through my allergy testing! I know a lot of people will think its weird that I wanted to 1. take photos of this, and 2. scrapbook them! But this was something that I want to remember when I am old. It was something that really changed my life. I have grown up being sick a lot. And over the past few years its been getting worse. One day I went into anaphylactic shock and couldn't breath for several minutes, plus I was crying and throwing up at the same time. It was by far the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. I just kept trying to force air in, I didn't know what I was going to do, or what was going to happen to me if I didn't start breathing, and SOON. Well I did, thankfully! But after that I went to the hospital and made an appointment to see an allergist. Now I know for sure what I am allergic to and I carry an Epipen in my purse at all times. Just in case something goes wrong and I go into anaphylactic shock again!

This is a photo of my new cat "Freddo" and I cuddling in the sun by the back door of my house :) My husband and I rescued Freddo. He was abandoned and we adopted him. He really seems to love us, and we really love him :)

Jake and I have been married for 2 1/2 years! I can't believe we are having our 3yr anniversary this year, how the time flew by! This is a photo of us out on the day that we were married for 2 1/2 years. This is one of my new favorite photos of us :)

This is a personal reminder to myself! I get myself so worked up, so stressed out, and so tightly wound sometimes I just have to remind myself to sit back and just breath! My husband reminds me all the time too.

Jake and I moved to Alameda! In Dec :) I wanted to scrapbook this move because its somewhere I really wanted to live and feel so thankful that we were able to move here, and because its something big and important that happened to me while I was 22. (all these 8x8 pages are a part of my "At 22" scrapbook, I am documenting things that happened to me this year that I want to remember) I love the little boy and little girl and the set of keys with the keyhole, and I love the buttons :) I really like this page!

BE GIRLY! This is another personal reminder to myself. Because I have a tendency to dress comfy and its not usually very girly. And I want to dress nice and girly and pretty for Jake :)

Color Challenge

I made this cute Valentines Day page with a photo of Jake and I from this year's Valentines Day. There is a little story to go with it that is summarized in the journaling on the page... First thing in the morning Jake told me that my Valentines Day gift from him was 20 visits to Peets Coffee, I love Peets so it was perfect! So we got dressed and went out to get some Peets. Then we went for a hike with our cousin Heather and her husband. While on the hike the men finalized their plans to surprise us wives with a nice dinner out. So when we got home the guys told us to get showered and dressed up :) The place was not a chain place because they didn't want to take us to a BUSY restaurant. It looked really nice, so we put our name in and got a table. Here is where it ALL GOES DOWNHILL... We sat waiting for 20 min before a server even came to our table to take our drink orders. Then we found out that they didn't have a liquor license so we couldn't have drinks. So we ordered our sodas and waters. Then it was another 20 min before we received said drinks and someone offered to take our order! So Heather and I were going to get their lobster raviolis, but the had run out they said. So we all decided and ordered, and we ordered an appetizer. Over an hour later we finally got 3 out of our 4 meals, and no appetizer... so we asked them to just cancel the appetizer and the waiter said "what, you want to cancel it? why?" "because we wanted it before our meal... but not our meal is here, so we just want to cancel it" "ohhhhh I see, well ok" ummm yeah, they normally come out before your meal is served to you, duh. Anyways, so after they gave us the 3 meals we were expecting the 4th one to come out right away, WRONG. Thirty more min went by and we stopped someone (no one had checked on us in those 30 min!) and said that we were still waiting on one of our meals?! He looked at us all confused and said "oh, there is a 4th meal?" and we are all trying so hard not to get upset, of COURSE there are four meals, there are FOUR PEOPLE. So he said that he would go check on it. Then he came back 10min later and said that it would be right out. Thirty more min went by (I am not exaggerating on the times) and the 4th meal (which was a steak) came out. But by then the other 3 meals were cold, grrr. So we all started eating. And both steaks were rare, one of them was so rare is was still a little cold in the middle! One of the other meals meat was overcooked, the 4th meal which was pasta was gross, and one of our baked potatoes had a really big black spot on the inside, and my veggies were CRUNCHY "steamed" veggies. My steak made my tummy hurt, so I stopped eating even though at this point I was starving. By the way, EVERYONE in the restaurant was having an issue or two as well. And at this point 4 other couples had walked out on their meals. We asked for our check and when it came back we asked to speak to a manager. The manager wouldn't come out of the back so we talked to a hostess. We told her all the issues we had with being there for 2hrs before we got our last meal, and all the issues with the food itself. They gave us a $10 discount which was not even half the price of one of the plate of food. Plus the waiters were really rude, even this hostess told us that we just needed to be patient. Ummm, WHAT? ok, so we left a 1cent tip. And we left. As we were walking outside we see our waiter smoking a cig and talking to some friends outside (so that's why we never got checked on...) When he saw us he threw down the cig and said "bye guys have a nice night" then he walked inside to pick up the check and see how much we tipped him (because if it was good food and service it would've been a good tip because this place was $25 a plate average) He saw the 1cent and threw the check on the floor, mind you, there are still lots of other customers in the restaurant, nice, real professional. Needless to say NEVER GO TO ZOEY'S IN ANTIOCH!!! NEVER EVER EVER! BAD BAD PLACE. :) We laugh about it now though :) And Heather and I were not mad at the guys, it was so sweet of them to plan a nice dinner out for us all, it wasn't their fault it sucked. Anyways, here is the scrapbook page with a photo of Jake and I right after we were seated :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Here is a wood heart shape from Michaels that I altered! I LOVE IT. I don't normally do things so frilly and girly. But I knew as soon as I started making it that I wanted to go in that direction! So I am very pleased with the outcome. I got the inspiration from http://kadeemorrisondesigns.blogspot.com/2008/07/dont-disturb.html (sorry I don't know why it won't make it a link you can click on!) . She makes the cutest cards and crafts! Here is a photo of what mine looks like

It was so much fun altering this wood heart that I went back and bought many more wood shapes to alter whenever I am in the mood to do something like this again! You should try it, its so much fun!

Christmas time?

Well it should be! LOL, I have been in the Christmas mood lately. Mostly because I have started making my Christmas cards already. Because I get a little burned out if I try to make them all at one time. So I started early and just do a few at a time whenever I feel like Christmas :) Along with that I have made some Christmas bracelets! Here are the three ones that I have made so far. By the way, this is the first time that I made jewelry!

Paper Stars

Ok, so I tried to do a video of me making one of these paper stars, but I just ran into issues with that. I might try again tomorrow. You can find videos of it on YouTube, however thats how I first learned how to make them and was making them wrong, so they did 'poof', meaning they weren't 3D. So I thought I would make a video that explained the whole thing better, but I have been sick for a few days so I sound all yucky! LOL, here are some photos of the whole process, and I might make a video tomorrow :)

So you start off with a strip of paper, mine is 11in X a little less than 1/2in

And you wrap it around and tuck it under on one side, just like tying a knot!

then you pull, more like "shimmy" it tight, but not too tight, just make the corners sharp

then you take the long side, should be on your LEFT, and bend the slack BEHIND (this is where I went wrong when I started making them off of the video on youtube) the 'knot' you just made

continue folding the slack paper around the knot making it flat and semi tight, don't worry about the slack left over from the right side of the knot it eventually gets folded into the knot as you are folding over the slack from the left side

when you get to the end you are going to tuck the last little bit under ONE of the folds on the knot, the one thats longer

Now you should have a nice, flat, and tight five sided knot, all thats left is making it 'poof'

so to do that you hold it securely inbetween your fingers and with your index fingernail push down on one of the sides of the knot

then rotate the knot over one side and continue pushing points into the sides of the knot

until you have a paper star!!!

I hope this was helpful! And remember you can use so many different types of paper to make unique stars! Even old wrapping paper would work! Have fun and make a ton of mini paper stars!

This page needs some journaling done to it in the top right side, the story is, these photos were taken on the beach in San Francisco (actually right down the street of where we live now!) when Jake and I were dating we went to San Francisco a lot, just for fun. Anyways, on this day at the beach it was really cold, but Jake "dared" me to run into the ocean. I laughed and told him that was a silly thing to say because I'm crazy and I would actually do it, and then he would have to come in after me! He smiled and "dared" me again, so I did, and he did come in after me. It was one of the craziest things we have done together and after that we went straight home and snuggled up and watched movies the rest of the night!

For part of the Summer our friends had two little girls from Holland over. I guess they used to live here in California and then moved to Holland. This was the first time that I met them however. They were so cute and so nice to visit with. One week I was the only person around for them to hang out with, so I made cards with them for several hours everyday (minus one day I needed for a rest because I was feeling under the weather). By the end of the week they both had a pretty nice stack of handmade cards, they were really cute too! So as a surprise I sewed them up some little felt purses with their initials on them to slip their cards in. So that on the flight home their cards would stay nice and safe :) Here are some photos of them...

I love owls :) I believe that the reason for this is because my grandma Marge used to collect them when I was younger. Someday I might end up doing the same thing! I wouldn't be surprised. Anyways here is an owl card that I made right after getting the "you're a hoot" stamp to go along with my little owl stamp :)

I was making cards with four little girls who all wanted my help, so I was only able to make one card :P

Here is the first 'spinning' card I have ever made. I made it while I was out camping with my family for a family reunion. My family (the females) all like to craft, so we all brought some supplies :)

I don't have the right tools to make the hole in the paper that it spins on, so its really hard for me to make this type of card for now. So I don't think I'll make anymore until I get something to make it easier :P

I saw a card on Stampin' Up's website that inspired me to make these slider cards. The heart one is the first one that I made, it is a little bit harder to slide back in because the circle that goes on the top outside is small. So in the second one, the yellow one, I made the circle MUCH bigger and there is no problems now :) I think these are cute ideas, I will probably make more cards like this in the future!

Here is a mini 'book' of two mini cards, 2 bookmarks/tags, and 1 doorhanger. I bought these papers all together, and I decided to give this project a try. I am so pleased with the outcome! It was somewhat a lot of work, mostly because I have never made one before. So it was a lot of time spent on 'figuring it out'! I gave the end product to a good friend at church who does a lot of good deeds for everyone that she knows!

Embossing

Ohhhhhh man! So my husband bought me an embosser since we had a 40% off coupon, it is AMAZING! I love embossing :) They only thing I don't like about it is that I seem to get powder everywhere no matter how hard I try to be careful! It seems to just sneak right out! Anyways, here is a sheet of paper that I embossed an image on over and over again, two rows shiny, two rows sparkly!

I recently discovered "paper stars" from a video that Kristina posted. And I tried and tried to make them, but for some reason my stars just weren't poofing on both sides, one side would be puffy, and the other side caved in. So after a while I gave up, they weren't looking that cute anyways. But then the other day I was walking down the street here in San Francisco where I live (and I live in a very chinese populated area) and ventured into a store that sold strips of pretty crinkly shiny paper just for making paper stars with. So I bought a pack of it for $1.50, I mean why not! And I told the lady at the register that I hadn't been able to get them to "puff" out just right yet, but that maybe it was because of the paper I was using. She smiled and said, "no, you can use ANY kind of paper to make paper stars! Let me teach you how to do it the right way" So she showed me, and it turns out I was just starting the folding going the wrong way! How silly. Anyways I went home and tried it out, and it WORKED!!! And the star was SO CUTE. So I quickly made up the whole pack of paper into stars and I went back to the store to show the lady, and I bought some more paper. Here are two photos of the paper stars I have made :)

My friends little baby girl is turning 1! So I thought that I would make her some "thank you" notes to send out after her baby Kayla's birthday party today. I had this one sheet of baby girl paper that I have been saving for a friend with a baby girl (I have had three out of four friends who are pregnant having boys!) So I was so happy to get to use this paper. I hope that she doesn't feel that turn 1 means that all the "baby" things are too young for her now, I thought about it and figured it wouldn't be! So in every card and on the box that I made to hold the cards there is some of that pink baby girl paper :) I really liked how this set turned out, much better than the first little set of cards that I made. I almost want to keep these ones! But I'll just make some more when I get around to have kids of my own! So Here they are...

Well since I was not COMPLETELY happy with my first card for Kristina's Color Challenge, I made another one :) I really like this one! I started it with the "left overs" from the first card, and I was reminded of an owl when I saw the colors last night anyways. So I came up with this, ENJOY!

well my titles are normally just something random, but today it really has to do with my card! I was sitting on the living room chair trying to think of what kind of card I was going to make for Kristina's Color Challenge

after I rested for a little bit (I have not been feeling well today) And because of the colors I REALLY wanted to make an autumn card with a tree and a shaker with the tree leaves in it in the brown, orange, and green colors. But I don't have a tree or any leaves stamps! So I was sitting there pouting a little and thinking a little because I cannot buy any stamps right now... so I thought it would be so cool if I could just make stamps. And then I was trying to think how I would do that. And so I thought that maybe I could carve an image out of a potato (not knowing that this has already been thought of before!) And so I got up and took out a potato, cut it in half and started making the outline of a tree. So here is a photo of the potato tree stamp, and the stamped image...

And I feel I need to explain the "look" of the card. Its supposed to look like an older photo frame, with a photo in it. Like those old antique round brown frames... Anyways, here is the card

Ok well I am not going to go into detail about my morning on this blog, I will save that for my daily one over at http://www.makingitlookeasy.blogspot.com/ . Anyways, while I was on hold on the phone this morning I made this card :) I know its really early for Christmas cards, but I figure that I'll make a few here and there and by Christmas time I won't be in a rush to get all my Christmas cards done :) So here it is, enjoy!

I started off with the idea that I wanted to make a card with my penguin stamp and that I wanted to make a card that had the top half white. So I started off with the red cardstock for the card and then I added the white paper with the top corners rounded. Then I played with what color I would use on the bottom, green or black. I didn't like any of the greens that I had with the look of the card. So I went with the black and rounded the bottom corners. Then I stamped the main image, I need to get one of those Stamp-a-ma-jig things so that my stamps are straight and centered! Until then, we'll just have to pretend its straight :) Then I added the silver snowflakes and then stamped the words SNOW in black. I added the white ribbon with just a bow after trying to think of a way to make it look kind of like snow and deciding that the card was busy enough as is for my taste. Then I added the red font MERRY CHRISTMAS and put it on a green background. After that I looked at what I thought was the finished card and realized that I wanted to poke holes in the corners, so I did and then I outlined them with some white pen :) I hope you all enjoy this early Christmas card in JULY!

Jacob (my husband) and I are in San Francisco! We have finally moved :) It wasn't too bad getting everything packed, cleaned, moved up here, and in storage. But it did take awhile. Now we are here and waiting for Jake to get a job! So for now I spend most of my day making crafts and cards with his two younger sisters Anna (11) and Elisabeth (7). Its nice to have some crafting buddies :) I am hoping that when we get ourselves all situated that maybe I can join some card clubs or something and get to know some other crafters near by! Ok so I have not been ignoring this blog, its just that I just moved from Los Angeles to San Francisco!! So I have had no time to update this blog :) As things are now, we are living with my husbands family. Its not bad at all, just crowded! Also, they don't have wireless internet, so I cannot just sit down and use my laptop, I have to wait until the computer is open, and thats with 8 people in the same house waiting for the same computer ;) But I have some time now since all the boys are watching a baseball game and all the girls are watching Hells Kitchen. So here are a lot more photos of some of the cards that I have made. Please keep in mind that when I very first started making cards I did copy some other bloggers cards. I would tell you who did them if I could remember, but I don't even know where I got them from. They are not TOTALLY like theirs, but I don't want anyone to think that I am just snooping around and copying other peoples cards and calling them my own :) Now that I am getting better, I am making my own :) After I get all my cards that I have made so far uploaded then I will just start making an entry for each card, but there are too many cards to do that with for right now. Mostly because I don't have the time! So here they are, let me know what you think of them :)

Kristina's Color Inspired Challenge #13

Ok so I have been "watching" this Stampin Up lady's blog for a while now. Her style in card making suites me perfectly. I don't think she has made one card that I don't just love. Anyways, she does these "color inspired challenges" and I have always wanted to do one, but have never gotten the time to do it before her deadline. Surprisingly the first one that I was able to make a card for in time to submit it was during all of our packing and moving! LOL, of course! Anyways here is the photo that she got her inspiration from and the flower petals of colors on the bottom right hand corner are the colors that we are supposed to use in our card!

As soon as I saw this photo I KNEW I HAD to make a card for it. Because I have this pink paper that has almost the same design on it as is on the blanket! So I made a total of three cards for this challenge because I just couldn't get one that I liked. And then I gave up :( But then as I was making a "goodbye" for now card for the little 8 year old that I nanny I realized that my "shaker" was the same colors as needed in the challenge, so I made the rest of the card with that in mind so that I could send it in for the challenge :) So this is my "C U later alligator" card for the challenge!

Ok so like I said I made the "shaker" first. On the shaker are my versions of the purely pomegranate and wild wasabi. And the card itself is made on whisper white. Then the top paper could also be considered wild wasabi if someone wanted to say that it is actually closer to wild wasabi than the alligator. The bottom paper is the pink one that I was talking about! And it has the river rock in it, and the ribbon is the regal rose. Also the glitter has specks of regal rose and purely pomegranate in it :) And thats about it for this one! Enjoy :)

Ok so its not really a closet, but its our little apartment! And I have claimed a corner of it solely for my crafting :)

Ummm yeah, and it already looks a little different than it does in this photo... But there it is for the most part! This is where I am most of the time after work and dinner. I have gotten into the hobby of making homemade greeting cards. I love it. I was making a ton at first, but I have slowed down now. Some are "ehh" and some I love so much I don't want to give them away :P I have only been doing this for 2 months at the most. But I have collected quite a lot of supplies! So this blog is simply to show off my cards and share them with you all. I hope you like them and I hope you are inspired!
